Mac4Lin

Do you want to give your desktop a dash of Mac OS X? Do you want to change your GNOME desktop from the default look to something like this?

Then read on.....
The goal of this project is to bring the look and feel of Mac OS X (latest being 10.5, Leopard) on *nix GTK based systems. This document will present the procedure to install Mac4Lin pack & tweak certain things to get that almost perfect Mac OS X like desktop. Compiz here, refers to Compiz Fusion.

NOTE : Backup all files before deleting/replacing the original ones. Take all precautions. Nobody can be held responsible for any loss of data that may occur when installing and/or during usage. This guide holds good for all versions. For version specific information please see the README file for each component (if any). Also see the changelog file for changes in that version.

Download all the Mac4Lin .tar.gz files from the latest release & extract to a temporary folder.

Download all the .tar.gz files and Mac4Lin documentation PDF to a temporary folder, Mac4Lin. Untar (extract) all these .tar.gz one by one. There will be folders created for individual components. For the complete pack you will need to download all the files. Read the Mac4Lin documentatin for installation instructions.

Mac4Lin_v0.3.tar.gz contains GTK theme, GDM theme, Mozilla Firefox theme and extensions, Pidgin theme, Media Player skins (XMMS, Audacious, BMP etc.), Sounds, Cursors, Simdock, GTK Splash theme, Font enhancing guide, Usplash themes, Grub Splash themes, Emerald theme, Exaile and Pidgin AWN plugins, AWN themes.

Mac4Lin_Documentation.PDF contains illustrated installation instructions which supercedes individual README files. README files are now included only if there is some release specific information.

Mac4Lin_Icons_v0.3_for_GNOME_2.18_ONLY.tar.gz contains GTK Icon theme for GNOME 2.18 and below ONLY. For GNOME 2.20 (bundled with OpenSUSE 10.3/Ubuntu 7.10 - Gusty etc.) a new theme will be released shortly. The GNOME version can be determined by clicking System Menu > About GNOME.

Wallpapers_Mac4Lin_v0.3.tar.gz contains a collection of Mac Wallpapers.
